Authorship and Contributorship Criteria

MUDARRISA: Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan Islam is committed to transparent, responsible, and ethical authorship practices. The journal recognizes authorship as both scholarly credit and accountability for the integrity of published research.

1. Authorship Eligibility

An individual qualifies for authorship when all the following criteria are fulfilled:

  1. Making a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, implementation, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the research.
  2. Participating in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for significant intellectual content.
  3. Reviewing and approving the final manuscript before submission and publication.
  4. Accepting responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and ethical conduct of the work.

Individuals who do not meet these requirements should not be listed as authors.

2. Author Contributions

All authors must make identifiable contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. MUDARRISA requires an Author Contributions Statement describing the responsibilities of individual authors.

Where applicable, contributions may be described using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), including conceptualization, methodology, investigation, formal analysis, data curation, writing, supervision, and other relevant roles.

3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication with the editorial office and ensuring that:

  • All eligible contributors are appropriately identified as authors.
  • All authors have approved the manuscript, author order, and submission.
  • Required declarations concerning research ethics, funding, and competing interests are complete and accurate.
  • All authors receive relevant editorial communications and approve the final publication.

4. Acknowledgment of Contributors

Individuals providing technical assistance, administrative support, language editing, financial assistance, or other contributions that do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.

Guest authorship, gift authorship, and ghost authorship are prohibited.

Artificial intelligence systems and automated tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for research integrity.

5. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must include a written explanation and documented agreement from all affected authors.

The editorial office may suspend manuscript processing when authorship disputes remain unresolved. Such disputes may be referred to the authors' institutions where appropriate.

Changes to authorship after publication require editorial assessment and, where approved, a transparent and appropriately linked publication notice.

6. Authorship Disputes

Allegations of inappropriate authorship, undisclosed contributors, or disputes concerning intellectual contributions will be assessed according to the journal's Publication Ethics and applicable COPE guidance.

Editorial decisions must be based on documented evidence and conducted fairly, confidentially, and independently of personal or institutional influence.
