AI Policy
This policy sets out how authors, editors and reviewers of IJIP (Indonesian Journal of Islamic Psychology) may use artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI and large language models. It follows the COPE position on authorship and AI tools and the accreditation guidelines of the Directorate General of Science and Technology (2026).
1. Authors
- AI tools cannot be listed as an author or co-author, and cannot be cited as an author.
- Authors who use AI tools for any part of the research or the writing (for example language editing, translation, code, data analysis, or generating text or images) must disclose it in an AI Statement at the end of the article: the tool, the version and what it was used for. If no AI was used, the statement says so.
- AI must not replace the authors' own scholarly work: formulating the research problem, analysing and interpreting the data, and drawing conclusions. Authors are fully responsible for the originality, accuracy and integrity of the whole article, including any AI-assisted parts.
- AI-generated images, data or references presented as real are research misconduct.
2. Editors
- Editors must not use AI tools to replace scholarly judgement or to make editorial decisions. Every editorial decision is taken by the editors, who remain fully responsible for it.
- Editors must protect the confidentiality of manuscripts and of the peer review process.
3. Reviewers
- Reviewers must not use AI to analyse or assess a manuscript or to write their review comments.
- Reviewers must not upload a manuscript, or any part of it, to an AI application, because this breaks the confidentiality of peer review.
4. Breaches
Undisclosed or prohibited use of AI is handled under our Corrections, Retractions and Misconduct policy.
