Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Indonesian Journal of Islamic Economics Research (IJIER) must fit the journal's Aims and Scope and follow the Author Guidelines. IJIER applies a double-blind peer review: the identities of authors and reviewers are not disclosed to each other.
Review Stages
- Initial screening (up to 14 days). The editor checks the fit with the scope, compliance with the template, and originality. Every manuscript is checked using Turnitin. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% (excluding references) are returned to the authors or rejected, as described in the Plagiarism Policy.
- Peer review (up to 6 weeks). Manuscripts that pass screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the subject and come from institutions different from the authors.
- Revision (up to 6 weeks). Authors revise the manuscript and submit a response to each reviewer comment. The revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for a second round.
- Editorial decision. The editor makes the decision based on the reviewers' recommendations and the quality of the revision. The usual time from submission to first decision is 8 to 12 weeks, depending on reviewer availability.
Reviewer Qualifications
Reviewers hold a doctoral degree or equivalent research experience, have a publication record in reputable journals in the field of the manuscript, and have no conflict of interest with the authors. Editors do not act as reviewers.
Review Criteria
Reviewers assess originality and novelty, clarity of the research gap and objectives, suitability of the methods, quality of analysis and discussion, consistency of conclusions with the findings, and the relevance and currency of the references.
Editorial Decisions
The possible decisions are: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Acceptance is never guaranteed in advance, and any payment does not influence the editorial decision. A Letter of Acceptance is issued only after the manuscript has been formally accepted. The order of published articles is decided by the Editor in Chief based on the acceptance date.
Use of AI in Peer Review
Reviewers and editors must not upload manuscripts to generative AI tools or use them to write review reports, as stated in the AI Usage Policy.
