This research is structured using the historical method, comprising heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The spatial and temporal scope is the development of Aula magazine in terms of theme tendencies from 1978 to 2014. The results as follows: Aula magazine is a monthly press media of East Java PWNU which was published on December 19th, 1978, based on the Decree of East Java PWNU. Moreover, Aula magazine from 1978 to 2014 experienced development. When it was first published, it was still a bulletin called Risalah NU and was not yet able to be published regularly, then it developed into a monthly magazine with a regular publication called Aula. It also experienced the development of theme trends during the New Order and Reformation periods. Government policies and NU organizations influenced the content of Aula magazine. During the New Order period, the content was limited to NU organizational news due to the repressive policies of the New Order government. In addition, since 1984, during the 27th NU congress in Situbondo, which resulted in a decision to return to the 1926 Khittah and not be tied to any political party, the content of Aula magazine during the New Order period was mostly dominated by organizational news. During the reformation period, The Aula magazine became more open due to government policies that were no longer repressive towards the press. In addition, the decision of Nahdlatul Ulama to establish the PKB party and the inauguration of Gus Dur, a central figure of NU, as President of the Republic of Indonesia, made the content of Aula magazine during the reformation period filled with political issues.
Zamila Salma, Rina Andriani Hidayat Copyright (c) 2023 Zamila Salma, Rina Andriani Hidayat https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/298 Mon, 02 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0000 The Actant and Functional Scheme of Greimas in the Short Story Wa Kanat Al-Dunya By Taufiq Al-Hakim https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/307
This study aims to analyze the short story Wa Kanat Al-Dunya in the anthology of short stories Arinillah by Taufiq al-Hakim with the theory of narrative semiotics A.J. Greimas. This research focuses on narratological analysis, also known as narrative theory. This research involves a literature study to collect research data. The researcher analyzed the data based on A.J. Greimas' theory of actant and functional schemes. The results of this study prove that this short story has six actant schemes in accordance with Greimas' theory, i.e., subject, object, sender, receiver, opponent, and helper. In the analysis, the author divides the story into three segments. From each segment, there are six actant schemes. The main actant resulting from the interconnection between one segment and another was found, i.e., the sender in the form of the actor's psychic inclination towards his desires. A very dominant Receiver is the 'devil'. In the Subject actants with a dominating role is also the character 'devil'. Furthermore, the object in this story is hatred towards Adam. Meanwhile, the character who plays the role of opponent is the 'sly snake'. The character 'sly snake' does not only act as an opponent but also as a helper for the subject. This research also discovered the functional structure in the short story which consists of the initial situation, transformation, and the final situation.
Emma Asyirotul Umami Copyright (c) 2023 Emma Asyirotul Umami https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/307 Mon, 06 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 The Contextual Meaning of 'Tyranny' in the poem Ila Tugati al-'Alam by Abu al-Qasim al-Syabi https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/287
This study aims to describe the contextual meaning in the poem Ila T}uga>ti Al-'Ala>m by Abu Al-Qa>sim Al-Sya>bi based on semantic analysis. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive analysis. As the source of data, the poem is a part of the diwan of shaykh Abu Al-Qa>sim Al-Sya>bi published in 2005 in Beirut and revived in 2011 during the Egyptian revolution. The poem is analysed based on lexical and contextual meanings to obtain the in-depth message within the poem. The results show that the sentences found within have different meanings from their lexical meanings. This is based on the context of the poem. In this context, the poet attempts to portray the significance of the Egyptian rulers or leaders at the time who were authoritarian and nicknamed as the 'tyrants of the world'. The stanzas become the moaning of the people who are suffering from tyrannical and arbitrary leadership. Besides, this poem includes threats and rejection of policies that bring misery and suffering to the people.
Risadatul Ulwiyah Copyright (c) 2023 Risadatul Ulwiyah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/287 Fri, 10 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Deixis and Its Function in the Novel Imra'ah 'Inda Nuqṭah Al-Ṣifr by Nawāl Al-Sa'dāwī https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/233
This paper aims to describe the types of deixis and their function in the novel Imra‘ah ‘Inda Nuqṭah Al-Ṣifr (abbreviated as IINA) by Nawal Al-Sa’dawi. The method used is a qualitative method with a library research design. The data collection stage uses the note-taking method. As for the data analysis technique, it uses descriptive analytic of utterances that contain deixis in the novel, then analyzes its function. The findings of the study show that they are five types of deixis in the IINA novel, which include persona, time, place, discourse, and social deixis. In persona deixis, 60 data were found, consisting of 30 first persona data, 15 second persona deixis data, and 15 third persona deixis data. There are 7 data for time deixis, 8 data for place deixis, 4 discourse deixis and 5 data for social deixis. On the other hand, the function of deixis shows that persona deixis functions as a reference for people or characters in the story or refers to pronouns in the first person (speaker), second (opposite0, or third (person being talked about). Time deixis serves as an indication of the time of events that have taken place, are taking place, and will take place. Place deixis serves as a reference for places that are close to the speaker or places far from the speaker. Meanwhile, discourse deixis functions as explaining something that has been discussed or something that will be discussed. Finally, social deixis serves to show differences in social class between speakers and interlocutors and maintains the value of decency in society.
Jauharatus Shufiyyah, Rina Susanti Copyright (c) 2023 Jauharatus Shufiyyah, Rina Susanti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/233 Mon, 13 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 The Development of Formal Islamic Educational Institutions in Salatiga in 1932-1998 https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/islah/article/view/336
Islamic Education Institution refers to a place or organization conducting Islamic Education, with a clear structure and responsibility for the implementation of Islamic Education. Since then, formal Islamic education in Salatiga underwent a transformation from the initial marginalization to the proliferation of Islamic educational institutions in all areas of Salatiga. Therefore, this study aims to examine the History and Development of Formal Islamic Education Institutions in Salatiga City from 1932 to 1998. This research applies the historical research method. The stages within the historical research method are (1) Heuristics or data collection, (2) Verification or source criticism, (3) Interpretation or analysis of historical facts, and (4) Historiography or historical writing. The approach in this research is the theory of social change using the concept of formal Islamic Education Institutions and the concept of Islamic education. The results of this study indicate the following: (1) Salatiga is a city of colonial growth and development, from a village to an important city for the colonial authorities. Moreover, it won the De Schoonstestad Van Midden Java or the Most Beautiful City in Central Java award; (2) The emergence of education in Salatiga cannot be separated from the existence of the Dutch government. The Ethical Policy promoted the emergence of educated people in Salatiga; (3) The growth of Dutch educational institutions was inversely compared to formal Islamic educational institutions in Salatiga. It encouraged Muslim scholars to establish formal Islamic educational institutions in Salatiga. HIS Muhammadiyah marks the beginning of formal Islamic educational institutions in Salatiga.
