Using a qualitative field-study approach, data were collected through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with religious extension workers, institutional officials, and Taklim Council administrators and members. Data were analyzed thematically using the Miles and Huberman model, while validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings reveal that religious extension workers act as moral brokers, social facilitators, and institutional mediators in community-based economic empowerment. Empowerment is understood not only as income improvement but also as strengthening collective capacity, social trust, and moral legitimacy toward productive economic activities. However, these roles remain constrained by bureaucratic dependence, limited resources, and weak integration with the local economic ecosystem. This study highlights the strategic contribution of religious actors in sustainable community empowerment practices.
Icol Dianto Zilfaroni Zilfaroni Copyright (c) 2026 Islamic Management and Empowerment Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-08 2026-06-08 8 1 15 28 10.18326/imej.v8i1.15-28 Filantropi Sosial dalam Program Respon Bencana Sekolah Relawan: Studi Netnografi tentang Solidaritas Netizen https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/imej/article/view/6414
Social philanthropy is one of the approaches used to address the impacts of disasters in Indonesia. The low representation of women in legislative institutions is not merely a numerical problem but also concerns the substantive dimension of democracy itself. This research employs a qualitative approach, with primary data collected directly from the field. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal the roles played by Muslimat NU women in both religious outreach (dakwah) and political activities, the challenges they face when these two domains intersect—particularly during electoral contestations—and the strategies they develop to navigate conflicts of loyalty between religious organizational commitments and political party affiliations. The study highlights that while dakwah remains a visible and official mandate of the organization, political engagement often operates more subtly, yet leaves a tangible impact on the dynamics of local democracy.
Mutrofin Mutrofin Luthfi Ulfa Ni’amah Fajar Haris Styawan Clara Sinta Pratiwi Copyright (c) 2026 Islamic Management and Empowerment Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-22 2026-06-22 8 1 99 112 10.18326/imej.v8i1.99-112 Masjid Al-Falah Seoul as a Mosque-Based Social Safety Net for Muslim Diaspora Communities in South Korea https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/imej/article/view/6981
Abstract

This study examines how Masjid Al-Falah Seoul operates as a mosque-based social safety net for Muslim diaspora communities in South Korea. Using a qualitative single-case study, data were collected via semi-structured interviews, site observation, and document review with seven informants, including mosque leaders and congregants. Findings reveal that the mosque provides informal social protection through free meals (Geumbab), temporary accommodation, housing deposit support (Bojeunggeum), emergency assistance, and convert mentoring programs. These initiatives address economic, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, sustained through bonding, bridging, and linking social capital. The study demonstrates how religious institutions can strengthen community resilience and social cohesion, contributing to the literature on diaspora welfare and mosque-based social services.

Keywords: mosque-based social services; Muslim diaspora; social safety net; social capital; informal welfare; South Korea

Muhammad Farhan Abdurrahman Ahmad Faiz Khudlari Thoha Mauludi Mauludi Copyright (c) 2026 Islamic Management and Empowerment Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-22 2026-06-22 8 1 113 126 10.18326/imej.v8i1.113-126 The Internalization of Hadith Values and Their Relevance to Strengthening Family Resilience in Nation Building https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/imej/article/view/6980
Family resilience serves as a fundamental pillar of sustainable nation building. Amid contemporary social challenges such as moral decline, family disintegration, and socio-cultural transformation, the internalization of religious values becomes increasingly important. This article examines the role of Hadith values in strengthening family resilience and their contribution to nation building. Using a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes prophetic traditions concerning family ethics, responsibility, education, justice, compassion, and moral leadership. The findings reveal that Hadith provides a comprehensive framework for developing resilient families by integrating spiritual, moral, emotional, and social dimensions. The internalization of these values fosters individuals with strong character, social responsibility, and civic awareness, thereby supporting social stability and national development. Furthermore, the prophetic model of family life extends beyond the private sphere and carries broader societal implications. The study concludes that strengthening family institutions through Hadith values is a strategic means of cultivating resilient families as the moral and social foundation of a stable and progressive nation.
Wasalmi Wasalmi Ardiansyah Ardiansyah Zul Ikrom Zilsafil Rahman Rahman Copyright (c) 2026 Islamic Management and Empowerment Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-22 2026-06-22 8 1 127 142 10.18326/imej.v8i1.127-142 The Role of Tiktok in Shaping Aceh’s Destination Image and Its Implications for Local Community Development https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/imej/article/view/6983
This study explores the role of TikTok in shaping Aceh’s destination image and its implications for local community development. Using qualitative content analysis, 3,960 comments from the three most-engaged Aceh tourism videos on TikTok were examined. The findings show that destination image was the most dominant theme, highlighting the influence of visual attractiveness, natural scenery, and aesthetic representations in shaping perceptions of Aceh. Travel interest also emerged as a significant theme, indicating that TikTok exposure can encourage visitation intentions. Public sentiment was relatively balanced, with positive comments emphasizing Aceh’s cultural uniqueness and Islamic identity, while negative comments mainly concerned the implementation of Sharia law for visitors. Islamic and halal values contributed to destination image formation but were not the primary drivers. The study further suggests that increased tourism visibility through TikTok can support local community development by creating opportunities for tourism businesses, cultural promotion, and community-based tourism initiatives. These findings underline TikTok’s role as an effective tool for digital destination branding and sustainable tourism development.
Mawaddah Mawaddah Ulfa Erfendy Copyright (c) 2026 Islamic Management and Empowerment Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2026-06-23 2026-06-23 8 1 143 156 10.18326/imej.v8i1.143-156 Persepsi dan Minat Mahasiswa terhadap Studi Manajemen ZISWAF di Perguruan Tinggi Islam https://ejournal.uinsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/imej/article/view/7141
This study aims to examine students' perceptions and interests in choosing the Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf (ZISWAF) Management concentration at the Da'wah Management Study Program, Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The results indicate that most students have positive perceptions and interests toward ZISWAF Management; however, the actual number of students selecting this concentration remains relatively low. Students' perceptions have a positive and significant effect on their interest in choosing the concentration (R² = 0.803; p < 0.001). The main factors influencing students' interest include understanding and motivation, career prospects, teaching methods, learning materials, the learning environment, and academic management and policies.
